my lore

I was about to turn twelve when my mom and I fled Oklahoma

(a great story for another time.) We then returned to Charleston.

I joined Charleston County School of the Arts in the 7th grade as a vocal performance major. It made sense at the time, because I loved singing so much, but that program sucked me lifeless. Instead of doing what I loved (showtunes, jazz, contemporary) I was squeezed into what might as well have been a church choir (don't get me wrong, I do love some "Total Praise.")

In the 8th grade, I knew I wanted to switch majors. The logical move would be to theatre, but unfortunately I was waitlisted. As a stubborn little girl, I would not accept another year in that vocal program. Where else could I go? A new major had just recently opened up, and needed new people. Enter: Fashion Design.

I was born November 6th 2001 in beautiful Charleston, SC. I was born to two jazz musicians, which kickstarted my relationship with the arts. At age five my mom and I moved to Oklahoma where she put me in singing lessons by age seven, followed by guitar at age eleven. I participated in musical theater as a kid-with my most notable role as Jojo in Seussical (age 10).

The fashion design program required nothing but potential to join. Being chronically online, particularly in the Tumblr department, I already had a very curated style. I entered the program having no knowledge of sewing or fashion illustration-- and left having four couture collections under my belt.
